Following the meeting held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, the Executive Bureau of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) issued a decision to withdraw the membership of MP Madgy Ashour. Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Secretary General of the MB stated that the MB had decided not to participate in the runoff of the Parliamentary elections on December 5, 2010 due to the blatant fraud which took place during the first round of elections on November 28, 2010. The name of Magdy Ashour was among the MPs for the new parliament; however, the MB maintained that it does not have a representative in Parliament. MP Magdy Ashour was given advice by the MB, however, after the announcement of his decision to continue in the current Parliament as MP, the MB’s Executive Bureau decided that Ashour is no longer a member of the MB. Below is the statement: During its meeting on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, the Executive Bureau decided the following: “The MB decided not to participate in the second round of the parliamentary elections on December 5, 2010 due to the blatant fraud which took place during the first round of elections on November 28, 2010. The name, Magdy Ashour was announced among the new MPs in Parliament, and the MB announced that it does not have a representative in the parliament in the 10th legislative chapter; Mr. Magdy Ashour had ample opportunity and was offered the MB’s opinion and advice, but he announced that he would continue in Parliament and after ensuring his statement, the MB Executive Bureau decided that the MP Magdy Ashour is no longer a member of the MB.” Dr. Mahmoud Hussein Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood 15/12/2010
